Soooooooo, according to the records I put a post on Sunday the 11th of March, but I find nothing and thats because I got tired of how long it took to get a picture transferred. If I recall correctly it was a picture of Sue, Andrew & Stephen on a airplane headed for Europe 2 years ago. Since nothing comes up on my computer I am going to try again to put the picture on. Here goes.....

Sooooooo, 12 minutes later and the picture wasn't downloaded yet, I am not patient enough to wait any longer. Will find another way to transfer pictures to this page. I know that the last picture didn't take that long, so, I will just not put it on tonight. Anyone out there who uses Blogger, know of a quicker way, other than me buying a faster computer? HELP HELP HELP

This is going to be short tonight, since I spent so much time on "show and tell" and then there was no tell. So, Cherioo

Sunday, March 4th.

Will put a few words of wisdom down before I watch the 10 0clock news. Probably more of the same, not too much to report these days.

I mentioned a couple blogs ago about the key to the old trunk I found. Well, in that trunk was a box of old income tax records from 1955 through 1995, or thereabouts. Not needing them anymore, I started going thru them, so I could destroy them. Took out any documents that had my social security number on them, and shredded them. Recorded my earnings for those 40 years, and obviously found some history along the way.

One year we sent financial support to 20 missionaries, christian organizations, not counting our church giving. I could hardly believe it, I was working for Shopsmith at the time, and although we were living comfortably enough, we also had kids in college we were helping out from time to time. Might even have been paying off the store that we closed out in 1984 but still owed the owner some money for it.

One thing that I found which is close to my heart was a letter from my mother, started on a Saturday morning October 29. Written in pencil, it was just 2 sentences long, but told that my grandpa Schmickle was in the hospital and mom was there with him. The rest of the letter was in blue ink, and she started it off by saying "That's as far as I got Sat. morning, and now dad is sleeping peacefully in the cemetary" He had died just a few minutes after she had started the letter.

The letter went on however to say how he had been sick on Friday morning, but had gotten to feeling better, played his harmonica, had a good supper, and then gotten very sick during the night and they rushed him to the hospital. They believe he died of a strangulation of the bowel, but because of his age (90) and very bad heart condition, and the blood pressure went from 180 to 80 in just a hour, was afraid any operation would kill him.

Now most of you know that he taught me how to play the harmonica when I was about 4 years or so old, maybe 6, who can remember back that far? I counted the other day and see that right now I own 18 harmonica's and would probably buy more, if I felt the need for one more. It's something I enjoy playing. Guess one of the last songs he played according to mom's letter was, "Hot time in the Old town tonight" I rather think he was in heaven before the notes were cold. And somehow, while I can play that song and many other we played together, I prefer the hymns that our church song books contain, telling of Jesus Love, and of Heaven.

Will try downloading Grandpa & Grandma Schmickle's wedding picture taken on Dec 19, 1900, one day before he turned 30 years old. He didn't want to be a "old batchlor" and wasn't.

Well, I've waited 8 1/2 minutes for the picture to be uploaded, and I've not a lot of patience some times, so if it appears, so be it. Its news time, so I'm headed for the t-v.
Cherrio!
