Sunday, October 29th,
Wow, so much has happened since my last posting on the 13th, my Detroit Tigers has been defeated in the World Series by the St. Louis Cardinals. Someone must have left the Tigers bats at home, for they were not the hitting team they were against the Athletics.
Today, I enjoyed an afternoon of soccer over at the University of Portland campus. The pilots won 3-1 against a very good Pepperdine team. The first half was scoreless, even tho we had 15 shots on goal to their none.
Friday night and Saturday I enjoyed being in Battleground, Washington for the fall retreat of the Missions committee of the N.W. Yearly meeting of Friends. This will be my last meeting with that group, for from now on it will be called Global Outreach, and I chose not to put my name in for inclusion of the new team. Maybe someday, I'll feel I should join it again, but not for now. There are some really dedicated folks on the team, and the future should be bright for the missions outreach of the Friends.
Last Sunday we were to Julie & Chris's for Karls birthday party. Hard to believe he will be 10 years old Tuesday. They leave Wednesday or Thursday to fly back to Iowa to be there in time for Julie's mom's wedding to a neat guy from Indiana. Think his name is Dan, and Bonnie met him on a missions trip to Central America a couple of years ago, both lost their mates within the last 4 years, and they just sort of fell in love with one another. We're very happy for Bonnie as she is such a tremendous lady.
Around her, nothing too tremendous has been happening. Donna spent several days working on cleaning up the spare bedroom downstairs. Rearranging, and discarding things we no long used. Good Will Industries received many boxes and bags of good items for their retail store.
Think I probably told about the train ride up beyond Hood River in my last blog, am wondering if I included the picture of the whole group. Will have to check it out, wow I forgot to even mention it. Dare I try and put a picture in here of the group that went that day. We went about 18 miles up an old railroad track in some open window cars, up past many apple orchards and pear orchards to Parkdale. Had lunch there and then back to Hood River and our long trek home to Vancouver. Let me try and insert that picture here. Its liable to be at the beginning of this blog, and sometimes, I'm unable to type more after the picture appears, so if that happens, hope you have a good week. Treat the little goblins good Tuesday night. Cheers!

Well my goodness, what a difference a day or two makes, huh?

I believe in my last blog, I showed a picture of my nephew at the ballpark, and we had just defeated the Minneasota Twins, and I was looking forward to swacking the Detroit Tigers. And if you have been following the games, you know that right now, 6:00 on Friday night, we are down 3 games to none. One more defeat, and the Tigers are in the World Series.

Thats the way the ball bounces sometimes. Right about now, the St Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets are starting their game # 2. Mets got them 2 to 0 last night, which is something I didn't expect to see happen.

Donna had a big days shopping for a couple of wonderful boys, Ryan and Karl. She took Ryan with Julie first, and with him, it doesn't take long to try on clothes. Karl is a different thing. She said one shirt, Karl wanted and got is a green shirt, that says "Kiss me, I'm Irish". Now if you know anything at all about Karl, he is NOT Irish, he is KOREAN, and you can't look at him and mistake him for a Irishman. Both Julie & Donna about died laughing at him in it.

Got to make a trip out to Lake Oswego in the morning and look at a Shopsmith scroll saw, that the lady said needs more oil or something. Needs adjusting, I'll guess. Have another lady which wants me to look at hers too, so maybe I can get her address and see it too tomorrow.

Think my tummy tells me its time to look for some dinner. Met Laura today for lunch while Donna was shopping, and heard about her trip to Phoenix and then to Flagstaff and the grand canyon. Was gone about a week. Hey, said I was hungry, so cheerio.

Yes, one week ago, I was saying that I hoped that I'd be sitting with nephew Scott at the Oakland A's baseball game. Well, it happened, and after a long overnight drive down, we arrived at the stadium around 11:15 Friday morning, game started at 1:00 and by 5:30 we were headed North towards Sacramento on our way home with a BIG OAKLAND A WIN.

What an exciting game, and to prove that Scott was there, here's a picture of him taken just before game time. Will put my picture on later in week.

So there it is, proof positive, we were there, came back and found a motel on I-5 going north towards Portland, and both were in bed sound asleep by 10:00 that night. Must close and go see who is winning between the Mets and Dodgers. Cheers!
