Dear Friends whoever you might still be. What a waste of good time, I see I have not posted since July 7th, or thereabouts. What a waste of my time for not having putting something on this chronical.

Much has happened however, I have lost 2 good friends to death, one Kathy and the other Richard. Death is so permanent but in both cases, both belonged to Jesus and so their souls live on and on. PTL . Then too my daughter and husband have just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by a trip to Hawaii. And my brother and his wife, celebrated anniversary number #52, the same as Donna and I.

We have learned that we will be going to Europe free of charge of airline fees, thanks to Frequent Flyer miles. Thanks also to my good son in law Dan for finding the seats available for us and his family. This won't take place until 2009 so, we have lots of time to pack our bags. And this time instead of 4 suitcases, I'm going to try and get it done with 2, maybe 3 at the most. This old body isn't up to packing all that weight around up and down staircases to a room.

ANd speaking of weight, I have managed with God's help, to loose 10 lbs, and hope by next spring to have it reduced another 10 lbs or so. It requires drinking a lot of water, and laying off the snacks after we have eaten our dinner (supper) at night. Not a always easy thing to do.

Soccer season is upon us, and I look forward to attending some super soccer matches over at the University of Portland with good neighbor Laura. We had thought we would go to a practice match last Saturday, but high temperatures in the mid 90's caused us to lose our enthusiasm for the couple of hours we would have had to sit in the sun.

Next weekend is the family get together back in Iowa. We will have to miss it this year, have too many other irons in the fire. I love seeing old family and friends who will most likely be there. We are missing two who were in the family photo last year, one cousin Bob and my long time friend Phillip. Both grew up together with their homes just 1/2 mile apart. Would love to know more about their childhood friendship, but those memories are gone. Phillips sister could maybe fill me in some on that childhood, but she didn't come into this world until he was a teen ager so maybe she didn't observe too much of childhood pranks.

Bob used to come sit on our front porch (was earlier his home porch, before the family moved and we moved in) with some of his teenage friends, and when my brother and I picked on them, they said if we didn't behave, they would have to cut off our ears with their pocket knives. Those days were precious, and the last time I saw Bob last September, he reminded me that I had better behave myself.

A lot more has happened, have picked many red raspberries & put into jam, also a flat of straw berries, and some black raspberries. Then there has been 3 or 4 batches of apple sauce that is now safely in our freezer for next winters use. Takes a lot of apples to make that delicious tasting sauce.

Today my mate is taking her computer class. I am so proud of her doing this, as she has always found the computer a dreaded thing, till she realized that it is sometimes a necessity to learn some of the things it can do.

Well, think its time to close this down for today. Love all of you who take the time to read me.

Howard
