July 7th, where does one start after a busy week. Think it was on the 2nd as I was heading for a grandsons baseball game, that the fan on the airconditioner/heater gave out, just as I was leaving the freeway. Wasn't sure if the loud screeching was from outside or in. Sadly it was my car. Not sure why the temperature guage suddenly went up, but I found a safe place to park & called AAA for a tow. Was thankful that it was only a $75.00 part plus labor. Today however I need to take it back in to get a coolant leak fixed & the transmission drained & new oil put in. That will take several days and cost me. But, its a good car, old, yes but still cheaper to fix up than put out big bucks for a new one. And, gas mileage we do better than some of the advertised new ones.

On the 3rd, we had grandson #4 over to learn to make strawberry jam. He did quite well, and helped grandma make 6 batches of jam. Am certain he could do it by himself today, if he had the ingrediants available to him. Our 4th was noisy, but laid back. We stayed home, went out and set up lawn chairs and watched some neighborhood fireworks go off. Then off to bed. Maybe next year we will try the Vancouver fireworks show again, weather permitting, and who knows how mobile we might be by then.

Think yesterday was a day for good sporting events. Wembleton tennis match was quite exciting, and then the Seattle/Detroit baseball game went 14 innings, with the starting catcher becoming the losing pitcher for Seattle. Not sure why the manager didn't use the rest of his pitching staff instead of a catcher, hmmm? Then the Yankee/Boston Red Socks was another great game, and sadly Boston losing in the 10th or 11th. Oh well, can't win them all.

Will close for today

Howard
